Technology Reflection

In the following essay I discuss my personal reflection on technology. I wrote about how technology has impacted my life and how it has impacted my instructional practices. I reflected on my experience growing up with technology, and the many pros and cons that accompany teaching in an ever tech-crazy world. I discuss how there is certainly an elephant in the room so to speak on the issue of technology, and that elephant is the question of whether technology is a gift of a curse. I discuss it in the essay that follows.

Technology Theory

This essay takes a look at technological theory. I looked into several tech readiness standards and discussed how I am currently integrating these theories into my instruction and how I plan on further integrating more and more technology in my daily instruction. Technology Readiness Report

My district was a part of a technology readiness grant, as a condition of this grant we all completed online training. I was able to utilize the traning and report both at work and for my class I was taking. I assumed that the traning would mostly be repetitive and not all that helpful to me however I was proven wrong, I learned so much throughout the training, as is described in the report attached.

Vodcast

In the link below you will find my very first vodcast! I have been flipping the class (a term to describe having the students listen to lecture videos or podcasts at home and utilizing class time to work on homework and work though sample problems or preform labs) for some time but this is my first attempt of creating my own video. Usually when I flip the class I utilize things like khan academy or one of the many YouTube study helpers! Since creating the following video I have done several more and I am getting much more comfortable creating them.

Formative Assessment

Formative assessment is a huge topic in the education world right now. In the following powerpoint I discuss how I used formative assessment to check for misconceptions, see where my students were while I was teaching, and then finally to see where they all stood before the summative assessment.

Formative Assessment Report

Here you will find more details about my formative assessment work that can be found in a summary format above.

Inquiry Lesson Pan

In the following document you will see how I planned and then carried out a series of lessons covoring density in my ninth grade science course. I designed an inquiry lesson, which means that I was asked to lead my students to hands on discovery on the topic, along side a co-worker. The ninth grade course is one that is especially near and dear to my heart as it was pioneered and created by my department several years ago for my whole district, we as a department have all contributed to shaping it and writing the curriculm for it.

Literacy Case Study

During a course that I took on literacy I was asked to chose a student to do a case study on. I had a very close relationship with one particular student that was a fairly strong reader but I noticed struggled with comprehension. In the essay linked below you will find my full case study report summarizing the work I did with the young lady over the course of several months.
